Inspired by: Mama, You’ve Been On My Mind
On Monday morning, Ein got ready for work. BC continued to avoid him, they never quite recovered from walking into his bedroom the other night.
“BC, it’ nothing to be embarrassed about. Cats do it too.”
Ein got in his hands and knees. He peered under the couch and saw two eyes reflected back at him.
“Okay. I’ll just leave this treat here for you.”
Ein left it on the outside of the couch, hoping lure BC out. BC didn’t fall for it.
“Whatever. Bye, bud.”
Ein’s workload was busy enough that he wound up working through lunch. Around 1 PM, Sadie entered the lab.
“Hi, Sadie.” Jen smiled warmly as she greeted her.
“Hi, Jen. Ein, can I talk to you over here for a moment?”
Sadie pulled Ein aside to a corner of the lab. Ein continued to work.
“It’s too bad we couldn’t get lunch together.”
“I know. Maybe if the doctors didn’t need so many tests.”
“We should just stop letting sick people in here at all, then we’d have tons of free them.”
“There’s an idea!”
“Coming to work on Sunday was a huge mistake.”
“Everywhere I went, I kept imagining you… and me… the things we could get into. I was like a doctor on a horny prime time tv show.”
Ein, flustered, dropped a vial. Jen rushed over to make sure everything was fine.
“I’ve got to work too. Sorry about the mess Jen.”
“It’s no trouble. We’re used to it. Nice seeing you.”
“You, too. Bye.”
“She’s like the best doctor in the whole building.”
“She’s amazing.” Ein agreed as he soaked up the solution he spilled.
“She wasn’t pressuring you for results, was she? Because I know you’re dating, but…”
“No. Work was the last thing on her mind.”
