Inspired by: The Times They Are A-Changin’
Sadie knocked on the front door, and BC hid beneath the couch, sure today would be the day their assassin had tracked them down. Ein answered and welcomed her in. BC breathed a sigh of relief and greeted her too.
“BC! How’s it going!”
BC tried to meow nonchalantly, but their meow waivered as they continued to collect themself.
Sadie and BC sat in the living room, and Ein brought Sadie a drink.
“How as your day?” Sadie asked, before taking a sip.
“It was fine. Normal. Just wandered around the city.”
“How many miles do you walk a day?”
Ein thought about it for a moment, “I probably walk like 3 miles an hour for eight hours. Like twenty miles a day.”
“Wow. Have you thought about what you might like to do during all that walking?”
“Like for a job?”
“Yeah, it’s a pretty adult thing to have a job by now.”
“That’s fair. I probably should get on that. My apartment’s only paid off for like ten more days.”
Sadie spat her drink in BC’s face, who immediately took off and tried to shake it off.
“You’re going to get kicked out?”
“In ten days. I’m sure I’ll think of something by then. It’s not a big deal.”
“Ein! You need money! You have a cat to take care of now.”
BC jumped into Ein’s lap and glared at Sadie for ruining their fur.
“They’re a street cat, they’re tougher than we are. We’ll be fine.”
“This is so distressing. I might have to reevaluate this relationship if you’re homeless.”
“Worst-case scenario, we can crash with you for a few weeks.”
“Are you asking me to move in with me?” Sadie asked, blushing.
“I guess I wouldn’t mind having BC around!”
BC meowed enthusiastically.
